What's for dinner?

Hi. My name is Mary. I'm a 22 year old graduate from the East Midlands. I am currently looking for work but enjoy long walks on sandy -- wait, no, wrong website!
What I meant to say was: Hi, I'm Mary, a slightly awkward 22 year old with a healthy obsession about all things food. As this is my first blog post, I should probably go through the motions of who I am, why I started this blog, what my goals are etc etc....  but to be honest, I hate introductions. It's just small talk and if you really want to get to know someone then talk about something they are passionate about. So with that in mind, lets talk about my passion - foooooooood!

I love food. I love cooking it. Talking about it. Talking about cooking it. However, my love of food centres around the best meal of the day - dinner (aka 'tea' depending where you live in the UK). Breakfast is necessary, lunch I tolerate but dinner is the meal that gives me all the warm fuzzies. I doubt I'm going to get a lot of backlash for saying that but if a few sceptics need convincing, I have 3 solid reasons as to why dinner is the most superior meal:

  1. Dinner is at the end of the day. This means after a long ass day of dealing with colleagues you just about tolerate and having some dude's sweaty armpits inches from your face on the tube, you have a plate of comforting food to look forward to which signifies the end of your plight.
  2. You can eat a heck of a lot more food at dinner since you have the time to sleep off that food induced coma. More food guys, need I say more?
  3. Dinner includes dessert! For those of you thinking, "You can eat dessert at lunch too", tell me one time where you ate a gloriously indulgent portion of sticky toffee pudding drowned in custard during your lunch break and didn't think  "I'm going to regret that, later". I rest my case.
But more importantly, dinner is the only foolproof method I know of bringing people together, albeit friends or complete strangers. It has a weird way of making people feel relaxed and welcomed which for me is the best part. I'm not what you call a social butterfly but something about being around good food makes me at least 20% less socially awkward.

Okay, now that I have successfully branded myself as the crazy dinner lady, I think now will be a good time to mention that this blog won't just be me rambling about the last meal of the day. I called this blog "What's for Dinner" because it's the first question I ask myself everyday (quickly followed by "Should I try to adult?") and the possible answers are endless! I could cook something rustic like an Italian ragu, something fancy like a souffle or go on the hunt for a new restaurant to fall in love with. I am also addicted to travelling so there will be posts on the stuff I've eaten whilst on holiday too. So expect recipes, reviews, tips when eating out and anything else that pops into my head!

Seriously though, I really do love food and I love sharing it with people so if any of this sounds vaguely interesting then subscribe! It doesn't cost you a thing and if you subscribe I'll promise to never rant about dinner again. It's a win-win situation.

Okay, well that's all for now, not really sure how to end this...ummm...Mary out? *carefully places mic on floor and walks away*
