God bless us, everyone
This has been a long ass year. A lot has happened in my life.
I started the year pretty bummed because I was an unemployed, disabled graduate
but I am now happy to report that I am now a proud employee of my local
council. I was a carrying a lot of emotional baggage from a split with my best
friend but this year I forgave myself for my past. And for a little while I forgot
who I was and had to find my way back to me. Therefore, dear readers, here a
few things I’ve learnt this year:
Your life, your time – EVERYONE has an opinion about when/how
you should do things in your life (get a job, get married, first kiss) but none
of that matters. Life isn’t a race and your blessings will come at exactly the
right time. Never early; never late.
You are loved – we’ve all done something we’re not proud of
but that doesn’t mean you can’t be forgiven. For me, self-forgiveness came when
I realised God loved me despite everything I have done or will. It reminded me
to love myself to forgive myself for the past and pray for a better future.
You are not alone – there is no need to deal with everything
by yourself. My parents are the best listeners and advice givers. They remind
me there is no weakness in asking for help and support.
Remember who you are – the world is constantly trying to
define and label you so after a while it may start to sink in. Therefore, know
who you are and reject anything that goes against it. You gain absolutely
nothing by judging your life against someone else’s experiences.
Essentially, this year taught me the impossible is possible
(or as Christian me would say “What may seem impossible to man, is possible to
God”). So as the year draws to a close, keep in mind that whatever life throws
at you, it will always be okay.
Have a blessed Christmas everyone!
Mary xx
